Refund policy
Every print sold here is made by hand in the studio's own darkroom. This policy is written to be plain about what that means for a return.
Returns
You may return a print for any reason within 30 days of delivery. The print needs to come back in the condition it left — flat, in its sleeve, in the packing it arrived in or equivalent rigid packing. A print that arrives back creased, scuffed or fingerprinted cannot be resold, and a return in that condition may be refused or refunded in part.
Return shipping is the buyer's cost, unless the print arrived damaged or the wrong print was sent. In those cases the cost is the studio's.
To start a return, email stephen@atelierhebert.com with your order number. Please do not send a print back without writing first — prints returned without notice can go missing.
Prints damaged in transit
If a print arrives damaged, photograph it — including the box and the packing — and email within 7 days of delivery. It will be replaced where the negative allows, or refunded in full. The damaged print does not need to be returned unless asked for.
Made-to-order prints
Some sizes are printed only when ordered. Those prints are covered by the same 30-day return as anything else. A hand-made print is not identical to the last one from the same negative, and small variations in tone and density are a property of darkroom printing rather than a fault.
Refunds
Once a returned print has been received and looked at, a refund is issued to the original payment method within 5 business days. Original shipping is not refunded on a change-of-mind return.
Cancelling an order
An order can be cancelled for a full refund at any point before the print ships. If it is a made-to-order print and work has already begun in the darkroom, write anyway — it will usually still be cancelled.
